Night Time Computer Time In Durham

I recently moved to Durham, NC and do more reading at night on computer. I sell real estate in the Durham area and am putting in many hours researching homes for my buyers. As it gets darker around me the computer screen appears brighter. I turn the brightness down but the screen still produces too much blue light. I was looking for a solution and came upon an application called f.lux . What f.lux does is warm up the screen color. It takes way the white and blue and adds some yellow tints. If you are familiar with photography you know the temperature of lights can affect the colors in your pictures. I have used a few nights and it seems to work pretty well. I have never had troubles going to sleep but didn't like having to manually adjust my screen brightness all the time. Since this is automatic you never have to worry about doing that again. Durham To Change Review Criteria For Historic Districts

Durham County and the city of Durham are overhauling the review criteria for local historic landmarks and districts. This will affect future alterations on buildings, homes and vacant lots in some of the oldest neighborhoods. The end result will be to clarify and consolidate the criteria and make the process more predictable and consistent. This should make the nine member boards, the Historic Preservation Commission, job much easier as they will have more specific guidance on what is required of them. As a Realtor® I am most interested in changes to the local historic districts which are groups of properties or neighborhoods that represent a particular type of development of period of time. Durham has seven local historic districts which include Downtown Duram and six residential areas. It is important for me to know where these districts are as buyers and sellers need to be aware the criteria in case they need to sell or purchase a property in one of them. As a seller if you fix a property up to sell and do not get proper authorization you may have more expensive repairs on your hands. As a buyer doing remediation on a property in one these districts could be a lot more expensive for you. Check with me before buying or selling a property in Cleveland Street, Holloway Street, Fayetteville Street, Morehead Hills, Trinity Heights and Watts Hillandale. These are clearly defined areas inside larger neighborhoods.

Apex Has New Skate Park

Apex, NC has a new skate park named after one of the biggest sponsors, John Rodgers. Hence the name, the Rodgers Family Skate Park. The skate park cost over a million dollars to build and well over $300,000 from donors. There is still a need for donors for items to be added so go to www.apexnc.org/501/donate The Apex Board Shop donated a large sum and the 8 foot competition bowl is named for the company. The complex is a 40,000 square feet and includes the bowl as well as several jumps. If you go remember to bring protective gear as well as lots of water because it will get plenty hot on the concrete course. Only skate boards allowed. Enjoy.
