Raleigh Offers Zoning Meetings
The city of Raleigh is introducing new development zones. Up to 30% of the city will be affected by the rezonings. There have been several public meetings on the subject but since this is all so new and complicated there are many unanswered questions. Most center around how will these affect the character of their neighborhoods.
The Raleigh City Council will have city staff meet with some people one on one and will have more meetings throughout August. One meeting is taking place the first Monday in August. It will be about the downtown zones.
If you don't think this affects consider that over 35,000 individual pieces of property in the city will be rezoned. Most of the rezoning are a result of a remapping process. The remapping process was caused by the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) passed in 2013. The UDO lays out all the laws about land use and development in Raleigh.
If you want to know if the city is considering rezoning your property you can go to this link http://maps.raleighnc.gov/remapping
As a Realtor in the Raleigh area these remaps affect my business. Not only if I have a listing but also if I have a buyer. I urge you if you have a property in the Raleigh area to check out the link above. These rezoning's may or may not affect your property or adjacent properties but it is well worth your time to check it out.
